Profile

Taking into consideration the burgeoning demand for commerce education in 1960's, the department of commerce in J.K.C College was started with two B.Com., sections and two pre-university course sections with the commerce group, all in English medium.The intermediate course was introduced in 1969 with one section having commerce as a group subject. In 1970 , one more section was added with a teaching staff of 13 members and one non-teaching member.

In accordance with the government policy one B.Com section was converted into Telugu medium in 1971. The department of Commerce has always been one of the largest departments in terms of its strength and also in terms of the large cross section of students it deals with.

The department of Commerce has many outstanding achievements to its credit.In 1972,1973,1975 and 1977 our college won the Rolling trophy instituted by the Indian Chamber of Commerce, GUNTUR for the best college in Commerce among all colleges in GUNTUR.

At present the department of Commerce is functioning with nine members under the able guidence of Sri G.Sambasiva Rao. The department has a separate library with over 200 books in the discipline of Commerce.

Our old students Sri N.Nageswara Rao and M.Manikyala Rao [ N.R.I's ] donated Rs.35,000/- for providing computer facility to the department.

Strengths of the Department:

  1. The Department has organized Market Makers programme every year.
  2. The Department has a good Library.
  3. The NSS, NCC, Youth Red Cross wings, Dr B R Ambedkar Open University,Andhra University Distance Education on the college campus have been participating by the members of the Department.
  4. The students of Commerce are participating in extra curricular and co-curricular activities very actively.

Opportunities Of The Depatrement:

  1. Department has been utilizing the opportunities for organizing Seminars, Workshops and Guest Lectures to the students.
  2. The members of the department are utilizing the opportunities of presenting research papers at the International /National Seminars and Conferences.
  3. UGC Certificate Course in Investment Management helps the students in upgrading their skills.
  4. In continuation of Certificate Course the department introduced the Diploma in Investment Management.
  5. More numbers of students are participating in service activities (NSS, NCC and Red Cross)
  6. Our students extend volunteer services in conducting National seminars and workshops.
  7. The students are en-cashing the opportunities by participating in co curricular and extra curricular activities.

Future Plans Of The Departement

  1. To conduct one National Seminar Every year.
  2. To conduct Entrepreneur Ship development programme every year.
  3. To Organise Market Surveys every year.
  4. To organize quiz in commerce at District Level.
  5. Motivate the students in utilizing the library facilities
